One of my favorite things about these two as a pair is how perfectly their movements are synchronized. Balthier even adds in his own little wink as they shrug at each other.
One of Balthier’s very first lines is a dismissal against higher powers. It serves not only as foreshadowing but also as a subtle parallel between him and Doctor Cid. Even as early as his introduction, Balthier’s thoughts and actions can be compared all too easily to his father’s.
